As part of a class assignment, we were given the hindi pop track "simply falling," and were asked to slow the track down add heavy reverb to it. The result is this eerie, noisy ambience of screeches, groans, and whispers. I've used this track in a few horror projects.

Sound of gravel falling. Starts slow then increases in velocity and sound level.

This sound can represent a rock falling into the water of a cave. I generated it thanks to a recording of beatbox + reverb + i slowed the speed + leved the sound and melt in closing.

Migrating starlings cawing in the trees a s a few acorns fall and hit a car. Recorded in an urban environment so a motorcycle slows nearby then revs off.

A long bomb noise. . . Sounds sort of like a nuke i guess, even has debris falling afterwards. Made by popping a little trick noisemaker by the mic and slowing it down.

A recording made, midday, on thursday december 8 2022 of a light, but very cold rain hitting the bare trees and the wet, brown leaves on the ground in a midwestern usa forest. Towards the end you'll be treated to a group of blue jays making a huge racket!other than that, no animal sounds at all. Just the slow, steady tip tip tap smack of raindrops falling from a cold-steel and gray sky. Recording made with sound devices mixpre-3 series ii, in 32 bit float mode. This is a recording i made on sunday november 4th 2012 of the gentle, droning sounds of insects that were singing in a marshy area near the shore of a small lake. This is a very typical ambiance of autumn in the southern portion of illinois. If you listen carefully, you'll hear another very typical fall sound, the cry of blue jays in the heavy woods which surround this lake. One of my favorite sound-scapes. I made this with my rugged and dependable handy zoom h4n recorder, using its built-in microphones. I literaly had it sitting on a small log only about 15 feet from the water's edge. Because the insects were not very loud, i did have to crank up my record volume to 86 on the scale of 100; this means you will hear a little bit of slight wind rumble, but all-in-all i think the recording paints a good picture of the early autumn landscape and everything slows down and winds down for the bitter winter ahead. Enjoy.

Autumn is a time for slowing down and allowing yourself time for reflection and contemplation. The accomplishments and mistakes from the previous year. Especially if you make it a habit of getting out all year long and exploring nature, autumn can be a much-needed change in sensory soundscape. . . . After a busy spring listening to the many different warblers which come to visit and a busy summer immersed in the busy sounds of life----both human and natural----autumn's subtle, quiet muted soundscape can be almost like a re-birth for the ears and the soul. The insects, which had taken over center stage since august, are still singing---though now with a quieter volume and a more even sleep and though-inducing tempo. . . . . . . . Brisk winds from the north can be heard more clearly now----swishing, rustling the weedy, tan edges of fields. . . . . Hinting at the bite of much colder masses of canadian air waiting on deck for their turn in the months of november, december and january. . . I made this recording on the evening of october 4th 2014 at the edge of a field which was bordered by thick stands of oaks and pines of a major national forest. . . . . I couldn't help but pretend i was linus waiting in the pumpkin patch for the great pumpkin to arrive!. Recording made with my marantz pmd661 and a rode ntg-2 shotgun microphone on a tripod about 3 feet above the ground. My input volume was 6. I hope you enjoy this soundscape as much as i do.
